Henry G. Neubert conducted the Ithaca Concert Band from 1978 through the summer of 1999. He was professor of Double Bass at the Ithaca College School of Music where he also conducted the Symphonic Band. His early music studies began with his father and grandfather in Allentown, Pennsylvania. He earned his BME and MM degrees at Northwestern University, where he studied double bass with Warren Benfield and conducting with John Paynter. After six years of teaching instrumental music in the Northport - East Northport Schools on Long Island, during which he studied double bass with John Shaeffer, Neubert joined the Ithaca College faculty in 1972. Neubert was the principal bassist of the Cayuga Chamber Orchestra where he occupied the Charles and Shirley Hockett endowed chair. On April 23, 2005, Neubert conducted his retirement concert at Ithaca College where he nurtured over 2000 student musicians. Henry and his wife, Gail, will make the most of life in their well-earned retirement in Bluffton, SC. The members of the Ithaca Concert Band, past and present wish them the very best. Keith A. Kaiser co-conducted the Ithaca Concert Band from 2000 to 2010. He is the Interim-Associate Dean of the School of Music, an Associate Professor and Chair of the Music Education Department at Ithaca College. He holds degrees from the Florida State University (Ph.D.), the University of Redlands (M.M.), and the University of Wyoming (B.M.). As a faculty member at Ithaca College, he teaches undergraduate and graduate music education courses, supervises junior and senior level student teachers, and conducts various instrumental music ensembles. He is active throughout the country as a clinician, adjudicator and consultant. A Presser Scholar, he is published in Update: Applications of Research in Music Education, School Music News, Reverberations, Orff-Echo and Journal of Music Therapy. His professional affiliations have included the Music Educators National Conference, the New York State School Music Association, the College Music Society, the College Band Directors National Association, the National Band Association and the American Music Therapy Association. He has presented at the Music Educators National Conference, the New York State School Music Association Conference, the Southeastern College Band Directors Association Conference, the American Music Therapy National Conference, the World Congress of Music Therapy, and the College Music Society. Dr. Kaiser has taught in Wyoming, Florida, and California - where he was founder and conductor of the University of Redlands’ Wind Ensemble for Young Musicians. He resides in Ithaca with his wife, Jen, and their children Andrew, Christopher and Meghan.
